The Cosmos Pillars
At The Cosmos, we believe that wellbeing is so much more than an attainable state - it is a lifelong practice that begins with an honest assessment of what matters to us and what affects our quality of life. To honor and navigate the beautiful complexities of multidimensional Asian woman identity, we created The Pillars. Using our proprietary holistic framework, we can explore and understand our right to flourish and thrive in all aspects of life. Each of The Pillars intends to inspire awareness of where we currently stand and curiosity about where we want to grow.
Health & Wellbeing
We support every woman's right to mental, physical, and emotional health. We also seek to improve access to culturally relevant resources, information, and care. By uniting as a community, we can close knowledge gaps to fight for more research and equitable health outcomes.
Family & Relationships
As descendants of immigrant and/or refugee families, we understand that our existence is symbolic of multiple generations of resistance, resilience, and indomitable strength. Rather than feeling burdened, we step into the full power of our Asian woman identities by honoring our unique family histories.
We also bravely acknowledge that building and maintaining healthy intergenerational relationships is an ongoing process. So as we learn and grow, individually and as a community, we embrace the nourishing friendships, partnerships, mentorships, and other relationships that hold us high.
Sex & Intimacy
We have a right to safe sex and pleasure (let’s close the #orgasmgap) without shame, stigma, or guilt. There is no question that is too small or silly to be answered. We are committed to sharing accurate information from trustworthy sources in the community to encourage sustainable forms of self-love and romantic love. By creating spaces where Asian women can talk openly about sexual health, sexuality, and intimacy without judgment, we advocate for bodily trust and autonomy.
Money matters, and it’s about time we talk about it! We are determined to overcome taboos that commonly prevent Asian women from comfortably discussing our personal finances or accruing wealth. By sharing knowledge about our salaries, budgets, and investment strategies, we can close in on the gender pay gap to earn what we deserve.
Asian women are multidimensional and our community is filled with talented women aspiring to spread beauty, social good, and impact in the world. Whether you self-identify as artistic, creative, or both, we’d love to hear from you and support your work. Cosmos women are tackling all sorts of interests and issues head-on through their hobbies, passion projects, side hustles, and other endeavors.
Many of us have experienced the discomfort of being the only one in the workplace, whether it’s our team, department, or the entire company. However, there is power in realizing that we’re never alone and we have strength in sisterhood. Breaking through the glass and bamboo ceilings to achieve our ambitious dreams requires access to more affordable professional development, mentorship, and coaching opportunities. By championing one another and fighting for our collective success, we can pave the way for more Asian women leaders worldwide.
Thanks to social media and technology, we have the power to tell our own stories on our terms. We don’t necessarily have to wait for Hollywood to push for more authentic narratives that celebrate the diversity of our community. Through food, music, art, media, and literature, we share our culture on a global stage and increase awareness of the spectrum of Asian or Asian American experiences.
We have a voice and we’re not afraid to use it to support our most marginalized groups. We care about mobilizing our community to make a difference on issues that affect Asians, Asian Americans, and our fellow POC communities. We recognize that many of us did not have access to our own Asian American history in the K-12 public school system. We take responsibility for educating ourselves and sharing what we learn to empower Asians everywhere to engage civically at local, state, and federal levels. Real power - economic, political, and social - for Asian women requires visibility, action, and unity.
