The Best We Could Do is a beautifully illustrated and emotionally poignant graphic novel memoir by debut author Thi Bui. This heart-wrenching story portrays her family's escape after the fall of South Vietnam in the 1970s to the difficulties faced in building new lives in America. The book explores themes such as the strength of family, the generational effects of displacement from parent to child, what it means to be a parent, and ultimately the triumph of the human spirit.
