CAMP COSMOS:
SEEING OURSELVES AS ASIAN AMERICAN WOMEN
MAY 25 - JUNE 29 | New York City Area
A 6-week experience to question and explore how systems and stereotypes shape our confidence in our Asian American identity

We’ve been fed an idea of what an “Asian American woman” should look like, but so often it doesn’t feel like that idea fits quite right (or at all). This “idea” of what it looks like to be Asian is reinforced by a history of systemic racism, oppression, and orientalism. From teachers, parents, grandparents, doctors, magazines, crushes, and maybe, even from yourself.
We’re more than the stereotypes, but it’s so hard to see beyond them. It’s also fucking scary to even try, and especially scary to do it alone.
But you deserve to express your Asian American woman identity in a way that feels confident and authentic. You deserve to name and free yourself from punishing stereotypes and damaging systemic standards, and you deserve to not feel guilty for being influenced by them. You deserve to talk about this stuff with other Asian American women who get it, who won’t judge you, who will support you in sharing, even if it’s messy and imperfect.
